A website, or are Facebook and Instagram enough?

“I have Instagram, I don’t need a website.” I hear it often. Social media is great, but it doesn’t replace your own website — each plays a different role and they work best together.

What a website does that social can’t

A website makes you findable through Google. When someone searches for “hairdresser Brno” or “web design”, websites show up — not Instagram posts. A website also isn’t limited by a format and an algorithm — you arrange the content exactly as you need.

The risk of someone else’s platform

On social media you are a guest. The rules, reach and even the existence of the account are controlled by someone else. One algorithm change or a blocked profile and you lose your audience. Your own website and domain, by contrast, are fully under your control.

The ideal is a combination

Social media is great at building relationships and drawing attention. The website turns that attention into a customer — it explains services, shows prices and offers contact. So social brings the attention, the website closes it.
